Meanwhile…

Have you seen this book yet? If you have, have you’ve opened it? If not, I think you should gave that a try. Why? Well, it’s a choose-your-own-adventure comic book, that’s why. From the mind of Jason Shiga, (2003 Eisner Award Winner) we are given a multitude of possible tales of epic proportions, and it all begins with a choice between vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Yep, that’s it. Vanilla or chocolate. And from there, the adventure begins.

By the way, the main character that you control, goes by the name of Jimmy. Depending on your choices, you’ll can end the adventure without knowing it. Now, this isn’t really a spoiler, as the grand majority of the 3856 (that’s right) story possibilities leads to you learning that fact right away. Anyway, the key components of the story boil down to three major choices on which cool invention Jimmy should play with. A time machine, a memory reader, and the Killtron 2000… As you read, you’ll learn the limits and hazards with these items, one of which puts you in a never ending loop… So be careful about what you do. Now, the really cool thing about this book is that there is a major story going on in the background that, personally, I never would’ve have seen coming. There’s a twist in the book, that occurs whether you see it or not, and its a pretty big one. I’ll not spoil anything about it though, but I know that I found myself in deep thought about it for a little while.

Anyway, outside of what I’ve just told you, there’s nothing else I can say about it, that you wont find out on your own. It’s a really fun adventure as well as a great time waster, should you find yourself with nothing to do for a long while. And, as a word or warning, there are pages within the book that are duplicates of other ones with vital information for your adventure… With these duplicate pages, the information will steer you on the wrong path, but, if you follow the rules and don’t cheat by flipping through the pages to find what you need, you’ll be fine. So, yeah, don’t cheat. Later.
